TEXARKANA, Texas — Axe throwing hits Texarkana on Friday with the opening of Sling Blades Axe Throwing Co.
Owned by Kevin and Toni Hancock at 2729 New Boston Road, Suite 34, Sling Blades features four axe throwing lanes where guests can stoke their inner lumberjack and compete with one another by attempting to hit a bullseye with an axe they toss, either with one hand or two hands.
In addition to axe throwing, Sling Blades provides pool tables, darts, air hockey, party rooms and basic concessions. Six people are allowed per lane.
"We've tried to get something put together to be a family-friendly environment, and still be able to beat our competitors even though they're over an hour away," said Kevin Hancock.

Axe throwers as young as 5 can play if they have the strength. Veterans, first responders and law enforcement with ID get a 50% discount.
Business hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. In the private party room, guests can BYOB. Alcoholic beverages are not served, however.
