Crossties Performance and Event Venue, located in downtown Texarkana, Arkansas, near Front Street Festival Plaza, has crews working to provide more space for various functions.

Workmen could be seen Tuesday working on the exterior upper floor windows as well as other details. According to one of the craftsmen on the project, the space being worked on now was once part of the rich railroad past of the Twin Cities.

"This used to be the Cotton Belt Railroad Office," said Jake Gathright, one of the laborers on the project. "It is now being converted into rentable meeting space for businesses and/or an extension of Crossties itself."

Gathright said the work on this part of the building has been going on for about four months.

"We've already had interested parties inquiring about this space," he said. "Joe Gay is the partner most directly connected with the ongoing physical work of Crossties, the nuts and bolts of this part of the work, getting Crossties operational."

Crossties is located in the former Moore's Home Furnishings building in the 300 block of East Broad Street.
