TEXARKANA, Texas - Windstream's internet service provider brand Kinetic has announced its new high-speed, fiber optic service is now available to 14,000 local homes and businesses.
Kinetic offers download speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second and features a 100% fiber optic connection from Kinetic's network to the end user's home or
business.
In a news release, the company touted recent investments in expanding the service.
"In the first half of 2020, Kinetic enabled approximately 100,000 new locations with gigabit-capable services. That investment means when internet use soared more than 30 percent earlier this year, the network was well-equipped to handle it without slowing down," the release stated.
The company quoted area legislators praising the upgrade.
"These days we are even more aware of how much we need reliable internet access. So we are especially thankful for this investment from Kinetic by Windstream in Texarkana's fiber network and what it will mean for education, jobs, and for all our families in East Texas," state Sen. Bryan Hughes said.
"If we have learned anything from 2020, it's that the investment in fiber networks to bring broadband to Texarkana is an investment in keeping communities connected and thriving.
