TEXARKANA, Ark. - What is old is new again and this is the case with 1873 Club of Texarkana, which will open at the site of the former Paragon.

Kasey Fant, head of business operations, says that though there will be some changes, the interior will be kept mostly the same. The inside of the club is a rich display of wood and comfortable seating, creating an inviting, at-home environment.

"There will be a re-theming," Fant said. "But this rich interior will be taken full advantage of. The idea is to, above all things, capture a hometown feel. 1873 is a new place, but we don't want to ditch The Paragon heritage, as that is part of the downtown history of Texarkana."

The site was originally home to The Paragon, but the business closed due to the COVID-19 shutdown and never reopened.

"The speakeasy vibe was a really cool idea and we want to keep hints of that," Fant said. "But this will be about class, sophistication."

The 1873 Club will feature Italian food, courtesy of Via Roma, and a full bar.

"We've got our grand opening scheduled for Oct. 10," she said. "We will have live entertainment periodically, including on our opening night."

Operating hours are anticipated to be from 5 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

(1873 Club of Texarkana is at 112 E. Fifth St.)
