TEXARKANA, Texas - Happy kids and healthy pets will be the focus Halloween at Spring Lake Park.
The city will hold both Bark at the Park - offering free services for residents' dogs and cats - and a drive-through Trunk or Treat event Oct. 31 at the park.
The fourth annual Bark at the Park will take place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kylee Sullivan Dog Park section of the park.
Texas-side residents can get free rabies vaccinations and city registration for dogs and cats. Dogs must be on leashes, and cats must be in carriers. A limited number of box carriers will be
available.
Other vaccinations will be available for a $20 fee, and microchipping will be available for $25. Participants will get a collar, leash and goody bag containing items such as toys and treats.
From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., volunteers will pass out candy from decorated car trunks lining a drive-through Trunk or Treat route through the park. Trunk-or-treaters will enter and exit the park from Mall Drive.
City says more volunteers are needed. To register, visit the Southwest Center, 3222 W. Seventh St., or call 903-798-3978.
