Subject of Little River County manhunt a Texarkana man, in custody

OGDEN, Ark. -The subject of a manhunt in Little River County has been taken into custody.

Michael Jacob Martin, 25, of Texarkana, Arkansas, was arrested about 8 p.m. Monday on charges of felony fleeing and possession of a stolen vehicle, said Little River County Sheriff Bobby Walraven.

Martin also has outstanding warrants from Abilene, Texas, for unauthorized absence from a community corrections facility.

The search started Monday morning when the suspect rammed a stolen SUV he was driving into a Sheriff's Deputies' vehicle.

He then abandoned the vehicle and fled into the woods near Ogden, Arkansas.

Little River County sheriff's deputies searched the area with help from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department's K9 officers before taking a break because of high humidity. They resumed the search later Monday and were able to take the suspect into custody.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Bowie County this weekend. It was taken from the Dollar General Store in Redwater after the keys were left inside, said Bowie County Sheriff's Office Investigator Robby McCarver.

The owner of the stolen vehicle contacted her finance company, and they were able to locate the vehicle in Little River County using GPS, McCarver said.
