Commissioners approve sale of tax-delinquent property

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Bowie County commissioners approved the resale of at least six pieces of real estate Monday, since all the property is delinquent on tax payments.

Collectively, the property is worth about $8,000 and is located mostly in the McCormick Heights, Beverly Heights, Connor Heights and Highland Park additions of Texarkana, Texas. Some is also located in the Wagnon Estates and Crestview Estates area.

Court members also approved having county employees enroll in the Texas Association of Counties' free cybersecurity training program for the second year in a row.

"This is basically a repeat of last year's program and everyone who works at a computer needs this training," Bowie County Judge Bobby Howell said. "It's both free and mandatory."

Commissioners also agreed to accept and designate County Road 4291, located near DeKalb in Precinct Road Department 3, as a county road.

"The road has been a road we have always taken care of for the last 20 years; we now just need to officially accept this as a county road," Precinct 3 Commissioner James Strain said.
