Arkansas High's football game against Magnolia on Friday has been canceled because of coronavirus concerns.

The game, which was scheduled to be Pathers' homecoming, has been ruled a 'no contest,' according to the Magnolia School District's website.

"We got the call today that Magnolia had some COVID-19 issues and had to cancel the game," said Barry Norton, Arkansas High athletic director and head football coach. "Obviously, it was disappointing for us and them and we hate it terribly."

After a 35-21 win over Warren last week in its season-opener, Arkansas High (1-0) was preparing to begin conference play on Friday.

"We were looking forward to the game against Magnolia and getting into conference play," Norton said. "We are looking to try and find a ball game to play on Friday in replacement, but right now our status is that our game is canceled.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Magnolia."
