TEXARKANA, Ark. - Texarkana Sharks is swimming its way into the local dining scene.

On Wednesday, the drive-through cast a long line and customers were biting.

"Just like the sign says, fish, along with chicken, will be what we do here," said owner Ahmen Srahin.

The kitchen staff wears signature yellow tees with green stenciling as they prepare the daily catch. The crew is relatively new. The former Taco Tico building too is freshly remodeled

"Right now, we just have drive-through customers until my crew gets trained up on things," Srahin said. "On Oct. 1, we plan on the official grand opening, where the customers will get to enjoy the dine-in space."

Hailing from Palestine in the Middle East, Srahin has called the U.S. home for many years. In a restaurant business career that has taken him all over this county, most notably Indiana and Chicago, he came to Texarkana in 2015. He saw the old Taco Tico building and had an idea.

"You have several restaurants in this part of Texarkana," he said. "But they all seem to have their kitchens walled off. I set my kitchen at Texarkana Sharks to be open and visible to the diners placing their orders. Customers can see the food being cooked and their meals being prepared right in front of them."

Besides fish and chicken, Texarkana Sharks also offers a wide range of desserts, for those who come with a sweet tooth.

(Texarkana Sharks is located at 1010 E. 9th St., Texarkana, Arkansas.)
