TEXARKANA, Ark. - During a meeting Monday, the city Board of Directors will consider purchase of a new pumper truck for the Fire Department and a pair of rezoning requests to allow housing development.

Goldy's Fire Apparatus of Tupelo, Mississippi, was the low bidder for the new truck, offering a total price of $378,182 for it and related equipment. That amount is less than the $400,000 allocated for the purchase in the current city budget.

The Board will also take up proposed ordinances that would rezone 3211 Preston St. from general manufacturing to medium density residential and 1619 Lincoln St. from retail commercial to medium density residential.

No details about planned housing development on the lots were included in briefing materials included with the meeting's agenda.

The Board will also consider amending the Texarkana Arkansas Public Employee Retirement System plan document in accordance with legal advice regarding hiring a replacement for a retiring district court clerk.

The truck purchase is on the consent agenda, meaning it will be voted on without discussion along with several other measures at once.

Also on the consent agenda is approval of a contract for a Texarkana Water Utilities valve replacement project at the Millwood Water Treatment Plant. MVA Services of Quinlan, Texas, was the low bidder for the contract at $462,628. Texarkana, Arkansas, would pay more than $170,500 and Texarkana, Texas, the remainder.

Another consent agenda item would approve the city's 2021 Bi-state Justice Building budget and amend the general fund budget accordingly. The city will contribute more than $314,000 to the building's operations and maintenance this
year.

Executive Director J.D. Phillips will update the Board on billing problems TWU has had related to a December 2020 cyberattack on its computer systems.

The agenda includes a citizen communication time during which members of the public may address the Board on any topic for up to five minutes each.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 216 Walnut St.
