TEXARKANA, Texas - A Texarkana man has been arrested for shooting a woman in the arm during an argument.

Texarkana, Texas, police officers responded late Wednesday night to a 911 call about shots being fired in the 700 block of Old Boston Road.

There was evidence in the street of a shooting but no victim, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for Texarkana Texas Police Department.

Minutes later, the emergency room at CHRISTUS St. Michael called and said that a 23-year-old woman who had been shot had just been dropped off by an unknown man.

Detectives D.E. Evans and Thomas Shaddix learned that the victim was sitting in her car with her child when her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy Mitchell, walked up to her and they got into an argument over something. At some point during the argument, Mitchell allegedly pulled out a gun and shot through the windshield, hitting the woman in the arm. He then drove her to the hospital.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

The detectives were able to get a felony warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Mitchell turned himself in on Thursday afternoon. He is being held in the Bi-State jail with a bond of $75,000 for the aggravated assault charge. He also had a couple of traffic warrants and one for misdemeanor assault.
