NASH, Texas - Maryanne Luna has opened her own shop on New Boston Road called Luna Cuts. It does haircuts, styles and eyebrow work.

She bought the former Chappos building on New Boston Road.

"I worked for 12 years in De Queen," she said. "I've been cutting all that time. And I reached the point where it was clear I wanted my own place, rather than work for someone else. Having your own business is better."

She picked this location because she likes the quiet.

"Nash is calm and peaceful," she said. "Also, this is a good road, good traffic, potential customers driving by."

This is Luna's second business. Her first, which she sold, was located in De Queen.

Customers who walk into Luna Cuts see the walls decorated with various items of art. Luna says she was going for a particular effect with the works festooned upon her walls.

"I want my customers to feel calm, comfortable and confident they will be able to get the service they came for," she said.

(Luna Cuts is located at 610 E. New Boston Road. It is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday as well as 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday.)
