TEXARKANA, Arkansas - A man accused of sexually abusing a girl when she was 9 and 10 years old is facing multiple felony charges in Miller County.

Daryl Brent McDaniel, who goes by Brent, was arrested in March for conduct that allegedly occurred in 2015 and 2016. A now 14-year-old girl described multiple incidences of sexual abuse by McDaniel to a forensic interviewer last month, according to a probable cause affidavit.

McDaniel, 40, posted a $100,000 bond March 26.

McDaniel was involved in a romantic relationship with the alleged victim's mother from at least May 2012 until January 2017. The girl allegedly told a school counselor and friends about the alleged abuse before it was brought to the attention of law enforcement.

The sexual abuse allegedly occurred at a duplex in Texarkana, Arkansas, where McDaniel once lived with the girl and her mother.

He was charged by Texarkana, Arkansas, police with one count of sexual indecency, four counts of sexual assault and three counts of rape at the time of his arrest.

The most serious charge, rape, is punishable by 10 to 40 years or life in prison, should McDaniel be convicted. If found guilty of any of the pending charges, McDaniel will be required to register as a sex offender.
