TEXARKANA, Texas - Today's Cuts salon has re-opened as WestSide Cuts and had its grand opening on Saturday. Hot dogs and prizes were handed out to visitors as the staff introduced them to the reworked interior and new features in the space.

"Today's Cuts operated her for 20 years," said Jesselyn Foster, manager. "The business was sold and is now under new management. We've been open for about seven weeks but had our grand opening today."

The new interior features a complete remodeling, new furniture and reception area, along with modern lighting.

"The previous establishment had something of an old school barbershop look," Foster said. "We decided to update with the new shop."

The staff is mostly new and they are looking for additions to the crew.

"I've been a stylist for seven years," said Kaitlyn Burns, staff stylist. "Its what I love, its what I do. I love the reactions of people and helping them to feel good about themselves."

Their next special event will be their Back-To-School-Bash.

"It will take place Saturday, Aug. 14," Foster said. "The grand prize will be a fully loaded backpack for a lucky kid returning to school. We will also have smaller prizes for all our youngsters, like filled pencil pouches and the like."

West Side Cuts is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(WestSide Cuts is located at 4426 W. 7th St.)
