Kinetic expanding fiber-optic internet service in Texarkana

TEXARKANA - Kinetic is making its all fiber-optic home internet service available to more local customers.

Expansion of the service will make it available to 35% of Kinetic customers on both sides of the state line, company officials said Tuesday.

Further expansion is expected to reach 50% of Texarkana customers by the end of next year and 65% by the end of 2023.

The build-out is part of a $2 billion, multi-year construction initiative in the 18 states where Kinetic is available.

The effort will create nearly 1,000 jobs in a newly-created internal engineering and fiber construction organization, the company said in a news release.

Texarkanas' mayors reacted positively to the announcement.

"Any day we get to talk about the bright future of our community is a good day.

"Partnering with Kinetic to deploy fiber means we can attract more and stronger business development, give our residents better quality of life and have the peace that the technology deployed is built for whatever the future brings," Texas-side Mayor Bob Bruggeman said.

Said Arkansas-side Mayor Allen Brown, "We are proud to partner with Kinetic to bring fiber broadband to the residents and businesses of Texarkana.

"High-speed broadband means economic development, job and education flexibility and better quality of life."
