TEXARKANA - Local CVS and Walmart pharmacies are now offering coronavirus vaccinations by appointment as doses are made available to them.

Four Walmart locations in Texarkana, Texas, and one in Texarkana, Arkansas, are administering vaccines, as is CVS pharmacy on the Texas side, according to the companies' websites. The CVS site does not specify which local pharmacy location or locations will be providing vaccination.

Both chains require those seeking vaccination to make an appointment online. Appointment information for CVS is available at cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine. Walmart's appointment scheduler is at walmart.com/covidvaccine.

Arkansas-side pharmacy College Hill Drug continues to offer vaccinations by appointment through its website, collegehilldrug.com.

Albertson's pharmacies on both sides of the state line have not received any allocation of vaccine doses, but "our team is trained and ready to administer vaccines once we receive doses," a spokesperson said Thursday.

The Walgreens pharmacy chain has announced they will offer vaccinations at locations in Texas and on Thursday referred inquiries to its website, Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine.

This week, the Texas Department of State Health Services designated CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System as a regional vaccination hub, making more doses of vaccine available. Appointment scheduling is available at vaccinate.christushealth.org.

The Texarkana-Bowie County Family Health Center did not receive an allocation of vaccine from TDSHS this week, but as it receives future allocations, staff will contact those on a waiting list of more than 4,600 people.

In all cases, vaccine doses are limited and available appointments are being filled quickly.
