Multiple districts extend school closures due to poor road conditions

Multiple school districts locally have extended school campus closures for students through today because of poor road conditions and water safety issues, while Hope Public Schools has extended virtual instruction through Tuesday.

The following school districts have announced on social media that Monday will either be a virtual day or student holiday:

  • New Boston ISD
  • Atlanta ISD
  • Queen City ISD
  • Hooks ISD
  • Simms ISD 
  • Ashdown Public SD
  • Genoa Central SD

HPS Superintendent Dr. Bobby Hart announced yesterday that all Hope campuses will pivot to virtual instruction for two additional days because of weather-related issues across southwest Arkansas, with all HPS personnel returning to work on-site Tuesday.

These schools are reportedly still having school on-campus today:

  • Dekalb ISD
  • Texarkana ISD
  • Pleasant Grove ISD
  • Texarkana, Arkansas SD
  • Redwater ISD
  • Hughes Springs ISD
