Texarkana College looks to renew driving academy

TEXARKANA, Texas - At a regular meeting this morning, the Texarkana College Board of Trustees will look to renew the Professional Driving Academy training program contract.

This academy started in 2014 in partnership with Ancora, a training provider. It is a Class A commercial driver's license certificate training program.

There will be a request for proposal for the training in the meeting.

Public Relations Director Suzanne Irwin said there is a high demand for this program because of the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine transport.

Also on the agenda will be to approve or take action on the college president's contract, as well as a racial profiling report.

There will be an Request For Proposal for the TC Media Center heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

This will be followed by reports by President Dr. Jason Smith; Kim Jones, vice president of finance; Dr. Donna McDaniel,vice president of instruction and Dean of Students Robert Jones.

There will be an item of action to move the March meeting from March 22 to March 29.
