Patterson's photo still printing, shooting and restoring photos at new location

TEXARKANA -After almost 30 years at its Summerhill Road location, Patterson's Photo Studio and Imaging is going strong at its new location on 3405 Cascades Boulevard.

Patterson's has been in business in Texarkana for 82 years, said owner Mark Patterson.

"Everything is going really well here," Patterson said. "We opened at this location at the beginning of September."

Patterson's no longer sells cameras or camera equipment, as there is not really a market for cameras any longer, Patterson said. However, the other services they have provided, such as printing, studio portraits and photo restoration are still available.

"Cameras just don't sell well anymore," he said. "We do everything we have always done except sell cameras. We do lots of printing and enlargements."

People are still printing photos, though not as often as when they would shoot with film.

Patterson's has a kiosk for printing photos. They also do a lot of old photo restoration and video transfers.

"A big bulk of our business is video transfer," Patterson said. "We can take old home movies, 16-millimeter film and transfer them to DVD. The only thing we don't do is Beta."

Another service that people use often is photo restoration - giving new life to old, damaged photos. Color can be restored to an old faded photo and most damage can be repaired.

Patterson's still features a studio inside the business and shoot professional and family portraits. Most of the studio work recently has been professional shots, Patterson said.

Family portraits and things like dance recital portraits have slowed way down because of COVID-19.

"Hopefully, that's going to pick back up soon," Patterson said.

Patterson's also prints keepsake photo books and can create personalized photo gifts.
