Wet Highway resulted in three-vehicle accident according to DPS report

TEXARKANA, Texas - Wet conditions on the Highway may have caused a three-vehicle accident Wednesday on U.S. Highway 59, according to a report.

At 2:41 p.m. Wednesday, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were notified of a vehicle crash on U.S. 59 just north of the intersection of Farm to Market 2148 in Bowie County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was in the left lane, northbound on U.S 59. The Chevrolet veered into the right lane after traveling through water on the roadway. The Chevrolet struck the side of a 2007 Freightliner which was towing a trailer. The Chevrolet then crossed over into the southbound lane where it was struck by a 2013 Peterbuilt which was also towing a trailer, according to the DPS report.

The driver of the Tahoe, Tyler Gardner, 26, of Hubbert, North Carolina, was taken to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the report.

The driver of the Freightliner, Richard Begay,42, of Montezuma Creek, Utah, was not injured.

The driver of the Peterbuilt, Will Johnson, 42, of Tomball, Texas was also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
