Bowie County adds 6 COVID-19 deaths since Monday; Miller County adds two

TEXARKANA, Texas - Six Bowie County, Texas, residents and two Miller County, Arkansas, residents died of COVID-19 from Monday to Thursday, according to state health departments.

In that time, fatalities moved from 138 to 144 in Bowie County and from 17 to 19 in Miller County, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Arkansas Department of Health, respectively. Active coronavirus cases in both counties decreased, Bowie County's from 440 to 353 and Miller County's from 144 to 103.

Bowie County's cumulative confirmed case count increased from 3,532 to 3,593 and Miller County's from 2,228 to 2,259. There have been 4,469 recoveries in Bowie County and 2,137 in Miller County.

In Northeast Texas, Red River County's total case count increased from 344 to 353, Morris County's from 461 to 471, Cass County's from 999 to 1,013 and Titus County's from 2,384 to 2,414, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County's confirmed case count rose from 285 to 290, Nevada County's from 551 to 561, Pike County's from 654 to 666, Little River County's from 754 to 765, Howard County's from 875 to 889, Hempstead County's from 1,138 to 1,173 and Sevier County's from 1,622 to 1,631, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana from Monday to Thursday, Caddo Parish's case count increased from 21,035 to 21,545 and Bossier Parish's from 10,662 to 10,953, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 222,287 confirmed cases and 4,496 deaths on Monday, Louisiana reported 378,318 cases and 8,442 deaths, and Texas reported 1,917,513 cases and 33,285 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday reported 24,323,846 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 404,689.
