BREAKING NEWS | TTPD officer dies of COVID

TEXARKANA, Texas - A Texarkana Texas Police Department officer has died of COVID-19, the department announced in a Facebook post Thursday.

"It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that Lieutenant Clay McClure passed away at a local hospital last night after a lengthy battle with COVID. He was surrounded by his family and some of his closest brothers in blue," the post stated.

Clay was 54 years old and worked for TTPD for 22 years as a patrol officer, supervisor and narcotics investigator.

"Clay was more than a great cop. He was a mentor, a brother, and a lifelong friend whose legacy will live on in this organization. He will be missed, "Chief Kevin Schutte said.

"Please keep his wife, two children, and his friends and family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time," the post stated.
