TEXARKANA, Texas - Former congressman, senate nominee and presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke will bring his "Powered by People" organizing campaign to Texarkana on Friday.

O'Rourke, D-El Paso, will speak with local residents at their homes in the afternoon before a public rally at 6 p.m. on the lawn at Twin City Event and Conference Center, 2101 Texas Blvd.

The event will be one among many O'Rourke is holding this year statewide, with the stated goal "to bring the fight for voting rights and democracy to every Texas town."

Such wide-ranging travel was a hallmark of O'Rourke's losing 2018 senate campaign, during which he visited all 254 Texas counties.

He has said he is currently focused on organizing volunteers and registering voters, but he has not ruled out a run for the governor's office in 2022. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to seek election to a third four-year term.
