TEXARKANA, Texas - A man required to register as a sex offender since 2006 was arrested last week for alleged sexual misconduct with a 12-year-old boy.

Jason Pierre Banks, 41, is accused of repeatedly sodomizing the boy, filming him as he showered and showing him pornography, according to a probable cause affidavit on file in Bowie County. Banks is related to the boy by marriage.

Banks pleaded guilty in November 2006 to indecency with a child by contact and received a two-year prison sentence as part of a plea bargain, according to court records in Bowie County. The Texas Department of Public Safety sex offender registry shows Banks' victim in the 2006 case was an 11-year-old girl.

The alleged victim in the most recent case, who had not yet been born when Banks became a registered sex offender, made an outcry of sexual abuse to a counselor and a tutor June 2. The counselor reportedly informed the boy's father who took the child to a local hospital. The boy allegedly told his counselor that he was last assaulted by Banks on May 31.

Texarkana, Texas, police became involved and arrested Banks the same day the abuse was reported on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Banks faces five to 99 years or life in prison if convicted.

Banks is currently being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $150,000.
