TEXARKANA, Texas - Carter Bloodcare conducted a blood drive Wednesday at the Dairy Queen on Lake Drive. Starting out somewhat slowly, things picking up gradually.

"This particular bus is out of Tyler, Texas," said Alexa Hill, phlebotomist. "As often is the case, Dairy Queen contacted us and requested us to arrange the blood drive."

The goal is to collect as many units as they are able.

As you might expect, social distancing and cleanliness protocols were strictly observed.

Hill says that's standard procedure.

"We would do that, no matter what," she said.

On the side of their bus was written a motto, "Be a lifeline for your community." Also, the Spanish version was, "Ayuda a tu comunidal Dona vida."

Businesses can arrange a blood drive by going to the Carter Bloodcare website at carterbloodcare.org.

Carter Bloodcare was established in 1951, originally in Dallas. Its primary areas of operation are North, Central and East Texas.
