Man accused of driving vehicle as woman clung to it pleads not guilty |

TEXARKANA, Texas -A man accused of causing a woman's death by driving as she clung to the vehicle pleaded not guilty Monday in Bowie County.

Renior Antwane Hurd, 42, was indicted last year by a Bowie County grand jury in connection with an incident July 6, 2020. Hurd allegedly drove a vehicle even though a woman he had been in a dating relationship with was clinging to it, according to his indictment.

Susan Flori, 42, died July 10, according to Texarkana Gazette archives.

The indictment lists multiple charges, which may be presented to a jury for consideration during a trial.

Assistant Public Defender Clayton Haas pleaded not guilty to the indictment on Hurd's behalf Monday at a hearing via video before 202nd District Judge John Tidwell.

The indictment includes a charge of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, deadly weapon, family violence.

If found guilty of that offense, Hurd faces five to 99 years or life in prison.

Other charges listed include aggravated assault and manslaughter, both of which are punishable by two to 20 years in prison in the event of a conviction.

A fourth charge listed, criminally negligent homicide, is a state jail felony. If found guilty of that offense, Hurd faces six months to two years in a state jail.

Bond information for Hurd is currently unavailable though he is currently being held in the Bowie County jail.

Tidwell set the case for a pretrial hearing April 12.
