PGISD Board to consider sign-off, payoff of elementary school building

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Pleasant Grove Independent School District Board of Trustees will consider and possibly approve an agenda item to accept the new Margaret Fischer Davis Elementary School building and approve the final payment in a special meeting on Thursday afternoon.

"After meeting with our architect, we are ready to officially accept the building and approve final payment to Nabholz Contractors," according to material in the meeting agenda packet.

The final payment owed to Nabholz is coming out of bond funds and within the already approved guaranteed maximum price of the project.

The $14.4 million project was funded through a $19.9 million bond voters approved in 2018 for the school and to update security and technology district-wide.

The construction project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an unforeseen amount of rain, causing the completion to be backed up a few months before opening the school to students in November of 2020.

After audience participation conducted by Board President Chris Barker, this is the only item on the regular business portion of the agenda. The board will look to adjourn after considering the approval of this item.

(The meeting will be held Thursday at noon in the Central Services Boardroom, 8500 N. Kings Highway.)
