WAKE VILLAGE, Texas - A local man has been arrested on a felony charge of online solicitation of a minor.
Wake Village Police Department officers arrested Jason Roberts, 39, Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of Redwater Road, according to a news release.
While conducting a separate investigation, Sgt. Todd Aultman was online using a clandestine social media account when he was contacted by Roberts, WVPD said.
Roberts believed Aultman was a 15-year-old girl and engaged in a conversation with him. Within hours, Roberts was asking to meet with the juvenile and engage in sexual acts, according to the news release.
The two arranged a meeting, and Roberts arrived as scheduled. He found officers waiting for him instead of the girl.
Police took Roberts into custody without incident and transported him to jail at the Bi-State Justice Building in Texarkana, where he awaits a bond. No other arrests are expected in this case.
