TEXARKANA, Texas - Forty years gives plenty of time to do something right, including when it might be to find the new place to do what you do.
This is the case for Red Wing Shoes. An outlet known for working footwear, the current owners who bought the place in April 2020 have decided to shift the business westward in Texarkana.
"This shop originally opened in 1982," said Michael Sparks, sales associate, who has been with Red Wing Shoes for a little over two years. "It is owned by Alan and Jennifer Martin, who run Martin's in Hope, Arkansas. Martin's sells shoes and clothes and was established in 1959."
Red Wings Shoes, located for years at 1401 State Line Ave., features workplace footwear, safety shoes, steel-toed boots, rubber boots and more. Their moving sale kicked off earlier in the year.
"We are moving to the Mall Drive red brick plaza, next to T-Mobile and Fast Signs," said Kristi Taylor, store manager, who has been in her position for a year. "We are expecting to move mid-to-late June."
Taylor says being a part of a store with a rather long history in Texarkana business is something to be proud of.
"I'm honored to be part of something this storied," she said. "Just being here, I've seen it grow. I'll get to help move it to a more advantageous location for its style of business."
