MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas - Local educators were recognized for various honors by the Region 8 Education Service Center at a regional advisory committee meeting on Wednesday.
The honors were announced earlier in the year, but this is the first time these educators have been recognized in person for their accomplishments.

Christmas in the Wild @ Little Rock Zoo — 12.17
The second installment of Christmas in the Wild at the Little Rock Zoo was sold out. The event included cookies, hot cocoa, arts and crafts and Santa as he passed out gifts to the animals.
Awards were given out by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, Texas Association of School Boards, and Region 8 ESC.
The following were named educators of the year in the region:
TASSP Region 8 Outstanding Middle School Principal of the year, Susan Childress, Morris Upchurch Middle School, Queen City Independent School District
TASSP Region 8 Outstanding High School Assistant Principal of the Year, Debbie Davis, Texas High School, Texarkana ISD
TASSP Region 8 Outstanding Junior High Assistant Principal of the Year, Zach Fowler, Pleasant Grove Middle School, Pleasant Grove ISD
TEPSA Region 8 Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year, Liliana Luna, Nash Elementary, Texarkana ISD
Region 8 Secondary Teacher of the Year, Robin Hilton, Texas Middle School, Texarkana ISD
Region 8 Elementary Teacher of the Year, Tara Droske, Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics and Engineering Elementary School, Texarkana ISD
TASB Region 8 Superintendent of the Year, Sidney Harrist, Atlanta ISD
In partnership with the Interlocal Purchasing System, Region 8 ESC provided secondary and elementary Teachers of the Year with a $1,000 cash prize. Robin Hilton and Tara Droske received these prizes.
