TEXARKANA, Ark. - Opportunities Inc. exceeded its monetary goal at the 32nd annual Invitational Golf Tournament last week, raising more than $90,000 at the event, which was held at the Texarkana Country Club.

"We had a very successful tournament," Executive Director Sherry Young said. "It was a lot of fun.

"The money raised will ensure that our children and adults with disabilities continue to receive the services that they need to live a productive life in our community."

This year's guest speaker was Todd Hamilton, a pro golfer currently on the Champions Tour. Todd is best known for his victory in the 2004 British Open Championship.

The tournament was sponsored by 65 local businesses and partners, led by Platinum sponsor, Eagle Dental Center. Aaron Johnson made a hole-n-one and was the winner of a Rolex watch, sponsored by Alexander's Jewelers.

The State Bank team won first place in the tournament.

Over the years, the Opportunities, Inc. Invitational Golf tournament has raised more than $2.5 million to support children and adults who have developmental disabilities and the elderly.

Young said Opportunities is already planning for next year's tournament, which will be held Sept. 11 to Sept. 12. The guest speaker will be Dan Boever, who Young says is known for trick shots, long drives and laughs.
