MARIETTA, Texas - The Cass County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a Marietta man on a murder warrant in connection with the shooting death of another Marietta man.
Law officers arrested Vontrequel Lesa Nickleberry, 33, at about 8 a.m. Thursday for the shooting death of DaChauncey Evontre Jones, 28, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at a community center softball complex on County Road 2355 near Marietta.
When LifeNet first responders arrived on the scene they found the victim had been shot multiple times with a hand gun, before he was pronounced dead, according to a statement released by the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses at the scene identified Nickleberry as the shooter when law officers arrived.
Sheriff's deputies along with Texas Department of Public Safety officers, local Game Warden personnel and the Linden Police Department search the area for Nickleberry and eventually arrested him Thursday morning.
