Rodney said of his mother's passing, "As I and my wife Rebecca held mother's hand, God took her other hand and led her to the eternal peace he had promised her. Immediately after she passed, the room was filled with a peace unlike any I had ever known. It was truly a peace that passeth all understanding".

His family was very important to him and he was a man of his word. He was an Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War.

She attended Texarkana Junior College, the University of Mississippi, and received a B.A. degree from East Texas State (now Texas A & M Commerce) in 1960. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority while at the University of Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clovis Jackson Hicks, her parents, and her in-laws William and Minnie Hicks of Cove Arkansas, a brother Jesse Royce (Pete) Jones, two brothers-in-law Bill Long of League City Texas and Buddy McKamie of Emmet Arkansas, a niece Laura Janine Long of League City Texas, and a nephew Gregory Lane Jones of Emmet Arkansas.
TOM WINCHESTER Tom David Winchester was born April 1, 1935 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Dr. C.L. and Flora (Huddleston) Winchester. He graduated from Texarkana High School with the Class of 1953; attended one year at the University of Arkansas and one year at Texas A & M, attaining an Associate's Degree in Aircraft Maintenance. He married Billie S. Bullington November 30, 1956 in Texarkana, Arkansas and to this union two sons, Mark and Steven were born. Tom entered the United States Air Force in March of 1957 and retired, following 23 years of service, in October of 1980 as a Senior Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force, Tom served at bases around the world, including two tours in Vietnam. He served honorably and with distinction, and his family supported and was proud of his service. The Winchesters were long time active members of the Grace United Methodist Church. Tom and Billie were also very active with the Special Military Active Retired Travelers group (SMART) who traveled across the country in motor homes - the caravan often being 15 or 20 strong. Tom was always tinkering on motors; enjoyed reading; and especially liked riding his mower while doing yard work.
