Mr. Leroy Bruce, 85, went home to meet the Lord August 5, 2019. He was born March 21, 1934 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Otis Bruce Sr. and Laura Williams. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 19 and served for two years active duty stationed in Germany, and eight years in the Army Reserves. A few years later he moved to Topeka, KS where he met and married his wife of 53 years, Edith Marie Bruce. He retired from the Boys Industrial School (now known as Wycat) after more than 25years of dedicated service. He also attended Antioch Baptist Church and was an avid bowling fan, and watched many bowling competitions at Gage Bowl and on T.V. Preceding him in death are his parents, one son, Gary Coleman and four brothers, Otis Bruce Jr., WG Bruce, V.J. Bruce and RC Williams. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Smith Dansby, Texarkana, Ar., three brothers, Willie Ray Bruce, West Memphis, AR. and Charles Bruce and Lee Perry Bruce both of Pine Bluff, AR.; three daughters, Cassandra Cooper (son- in-law Tracy) and Charlotte Moore, both of Texarkana, AR. and Janice Coleman of Texarkana, TX.; one son Alcus Cornelius of Texarkana, Ar.; Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty One Great Grandchildren and Eleven Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and lifelong friends. Visitation will be today, 6:00 pm 8:00 pm at Bowser Johnson Funeral Chapel, 723 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS 66603. The Funeral Service will be held at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 SE Washington on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 am.
