HORACE REED

Horace L. Reed , 88, of Texarkana, Tx died Monday, August 19, 2019 at his home. He was born Jan. 20, 1931 in Texarkana, Tx. He was preceded in death by wife of 56 years Marie Reed, his parents Horace Everlee Reed & Hazel Cleo Shipp, 1 brother Houston Eugene Reed, 1 stepbrother Rex D. Sevier, 1 son Dale Reed, 1 stepdaughter Diana Jacobson, 2 stepson-in- laws Ray Rader & Gordon Jacobson and 1 great-great granddaughter Emma Ray Rader. He is survived by 1 son & daughter-in-law Dennis & Rhonda Reed, 2 daughters Janet Reed & Linda Reed, daughter-in-law Cindy Reed, 1 stepdaughter Stephenia Rader, 1 sister Earline Stephens and 3 half-sisters Nelda Martin, Nita Adams & Linda Huffman. Grandchildren David Reed, Michael Reed, Spencer Reed, Jason Seibert, Jared Reed, Dennis Reed & Katie, Becca Harrison, Danny Rader, Scottie Rader, Sheila Adams, Greg Jacobson, Steven Jacobson, Michael Jacobson and numerous grand & great-grand children, nieces & nephews. The family would like to acknowledge special friends, Charles Martz, Pat Savage & Wayne & Doris Aaron. Mr. Reed worked as a carpenter with his father & was a lineman for Michigan Bell Telephone Co.. He owned 4 Esso/Exxon service stations & won many company service awards. He retired from Smith Blair as a CNC operator. In his retirement, he worked on small engines. He enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed hunting with his grandson Danny & his family. He was a former Marine reservist. At Mr. Reed's request he will be cremated and there will be no public service. The family will honor him at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
