Mary Poulos Patterson, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 after a brief illness in Texarkana, Texas. Mary was born on May 17, 1929 and was a lifelong resident of Texarkana. She was married to John Patterson, Sr. for 64 years. Mary earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas and her Masters of Education Degree from East Texas State University. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a teacher for over 40 years in the Texarkana, Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas School Districts as well as St. James Day School. Mary was an avid golfer and bridge player. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, John. Mary is preceded in death by her husband John B. Patterson Sr. , her parents, Nicholas Peter Poulos and Audrey K. Poulos and her sister Audrey E. Poulos. She is survived by her three sons, John Patterson Jr. and wife Kati of Missoula, Montana, Jay Patterson and wife Annabelle of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Mark Patterson and wife Julie of Texarkana, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Georgia P. James of Austin, Texas as well as eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. A Rosary will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 at Cornerstone Retirement Community Chapel at 6:00 P.M. The family will receive visitors prior to the Rosary from 5:30 to 6:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Edwards Catholic Church followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Services are under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Edwards Catholic Church, Dierksen Hospice or to a charity of choice.
