LILLIE COBBSeptember 10th, 2019
Lillie Beatrice Cobb (Shag), 72 of Texarkana, Arkansas, formerly of Kankakee, IL, transitioned peacefully on September 1, 2019 at her home in Texarkana due to congestive heart failure. Born March 24, 1947, in Texarkana, AR, she is predeceased by her parents, George, Sr. and Irene (Reader) Greer of Texarkana, AR, and her late husband of 32 years, Pastor, Elder Rollo Cobb, Jr. of Kankakee, IL. Lillie was also predeceased by two sisters, Ammie Lee Jackson and Bernice Finn; four brothers, A.C., Leon, Matthew, and Tom and son-in-law, Everret Woods. Lillie and Rollo were married in California on October 15, 1966. To this union 6 children were born. They spent the first half of their lives in Kankakee, IL; where Lillie served beside her late husband as First Lady of Fair Haven C.O.G.I.C. She was passionate in her service to God and it showed in her willingness to direct the choir and sing. In 1988 they moved to Texarkana, where she continued to serve alongside her husband as First Lady of Macedonia Baptist Church until his home-going in 1998. She was an amazing Bible teacher, anointed speaker, and devout worshipper. Lillie was a remarkable woman of character and truth, who was not ashamed of her faith in God; so much so that her Facebook name was "Faith." Her life was an example of her favorite Bible verses, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8 and Psalm 103:1, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!" Lillie was part of the Booker T. Washington Class of 1965 and graduated from Kankakee Community College in 1973 with her Associates Degree in Nursing. She practiced nursing for 30 years, serving as TB Nurse in Kankakee, IL. Clifton County, State Nurse at Manteno Mental Health Hospital in Illinois, Assistant Director of Nursing at Four States Nursing Home Texarkana, TX., and Medicare Coordinator of New Boston Nursing Center. A loving and devoted mother, she treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, constantly admonishing them to take care of one another. She especially loved her role as Me-maw, there were no bounds to the love poured out on her grandchildren. Her tone of voice would change immediately to one of pure kindness and utter devotion whenever she spoke to any of her "grandbabies". A supportive sister and compassionate nurse, she received great joy out of giving and serving others. "Shag" baked cakes on a whim and would call her sisters, Kat, Ella Mae, Willie B, and brother, George to come help her eat them; She loved to watch HGTV and Hallmark Christmas movies (she and Gerald often cheated and began watching them during Thanksgiving). She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting dolls, angels and bells.
