IONE WOMMACKJanuary 12th, 2020 | Paid Obituary
Ione Agan Wommack, 96, of Texarkana, TX passed away peacefully January 8, 2020. She was born on January 26, 1923, to Lorenzo Earl and Lois Narramore Agan in Mt. Pleasant, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Billy Jack, Bobby, Jody and Johnny Agan; and her husband, Weldon "Big Daddy" Wommack. She is survived by her daughter, Caroline Wedding; her son, O'Neal Teel and Becky Pennington; two granddaughters, Christina Culwell Wedding and Lauren Pianalto and her husband Zac; four great-grandsons, Wolf and Cade Wedding and Samuel and Benjamin Pianalto; her sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Williford and Betty Pierce and husband JB; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In her early days she was an avid bowler and competed in state tournaments. The landmark 6 foot Jackrabbit stood at Stop Agan Service Station in the 1940's, which later became Big Daddy's Pawn Shop. She took horticulture classes and started Ione's Plants. She loved tending to her greenhouses and gardening. She attended painting classes at Stanhope's and shared her artwork with family and friends. When she cooked, she made sure everyone was fed. The same applied to her quilting and sewing blankets. She made sure everyone received one. Late in life she took up golfing, hoping to shoot her age. What she enjoyed most was finding and washing golf balls with her friend, Tommy. She always fed the geese at the golf course. They would come for their treats when they heard her voice, just one of the many ways that she was an animal lover. Visitation will be at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Monday, January 13th from 6-8 pm. Services will be held Tuesday, January 14th at 10 A.M. at the funeral home with Carl Teel officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
