Talmadge "TG" English was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on January 25, 2020 at Overton Brooks V.A. Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Talmadge was born November 3, 1942 in Mansfield, Louisiana to John and Goldie English. On June 7, 1959, he married the love of his life. He was a retired correctional officer with over 40 years of service. He served twelve years in the United States Army serving during the Korean War Era and the Vietnam War. He was a highly decorated soldier having received a Purple Heart during his service. He enjoyed spending time traveling, woodworking, loved driving his tractor, gardening, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family who he loved dearly and who loved him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis English; two sisters, Margie Jordan, Jerrie English; and his parents. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He had a one of a kind personality that was totally unforgettable. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia English of Atlanta, Texas; two sons, Jeff English and wife Toni of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Gregory S. English and wife Elizabeth of Texarkana, Texas; daughter, Tammye Denise Fant of Atlanta, Texas; three brothers, C.P. English of New Iberia, Louisiana, Bro. Doyle English and wife Sarah of Logansport, Louisiana, Donald English of Bossier City, Louisiana; a sister, Johnnie B. Huneycutt; eight grandchildren, John David Jackson, Jr., Jennifer Denise Squyres, Brandy Cooke, Glory Beth Frazier, Haley E. Squyres, James Talmadge English, Lane English, Brynn English; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Smyrna Baptist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Gene Parker and Bro. Gary Terry officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 29, 2020, from 10 am to 11 am at Smyrna Baptist Church. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery, Atlanta, Texas.
