Doris BLANTON

Photo of Doris BLANTON
Doris Marie Blanton was born on November 18, 1942, to Grover and Idella Blanton in Rusk County, Texas. She met Leroy Caldwell in California, where they married. They eventually moved and settled in Bradley, Arkansas. Miss Doris, as she was endearingly titled, loved attending church and was heavily involved with her church home, Shiloh Baptist. She fondly talked about attending programs with the young people of her church. She was often found at her ironing board helping to keep the community of Bradley looking sharp. She also enjoyed working on her wordsearch puzzles. She most enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. Doris became "Mother" to many of her sons' friends. If you were her "son" or "daughter" you knew that you would always be loved and cared for. Her smile, her laugh, and her generosity will be deeply missed. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Idella Blanton; her husband, Leroy Caldwell and brother Jodie Blanton. She will be loved and missed by her sons: Willie "Charles" (Chinika) Franklin, Rodney Holt, and Anthony Caldwell; brother Ustadi Kadiri; sister, Millie Steel and very special friend, Dewayne Moses. Doris also loved and treated as her very own, Larry (Opal) Martin, Jerry (Sandra L.) Martin, Alvin Harris, Roderick Ross, Travis Burnett, Roland Laudermilk, Tamika Moses, and Neena Moses. She'll also be missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grand children and friends. There will be a graveside Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Caldwell at 11 am, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at St. Mary Cemetery in Bradley, Arkansas. A visitation will be held from 4 - 6 pm, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bradley, on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Brandon's Mortuary is entrusted with professional services. Doris' full obituary and online guestbook are available at www.brandonsmortuary.com.
