Nolan Ozell Bewley, age 90, of Wake Village, Texas, died Sunday, May 31, 2020, in a local care facility. Mr. Bewley was born January 5, 1930, in Cass County, Texas. He graduated from DeKalb High School in 1942 and East Texas State College at Commerce, before going on to Southern Methodist University where he attained his master's degree. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served from 1951-1955. While stationed at Thule Greenland, Nolan was the editor for the base newspaper. After the military, he worked as Director of Personnel for the Texas State Employment Commission and retired after thirty years there. Nolan was a member and great supporter of Highland Park Baptist Church. He was an avid reader and book collector and enjoyed cooking and fishing. Nolan was a caring and devoted husband and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Kay Cunningham Bewley of Wake Village; his children, Mark and Susan Bewley of Pflugerville, Texas, Robert and Joany Wills of Boerne, Texas, Doug and Karen Waller of Harvest, Alabama, Tad and Nadine Cunningham of New Boston, Texas and Richard Cunningham of New Boston, Texas; two sisters, Kathryn Rosser of Longview, Texas and Betty Pfeifer and her husband Charles of Las Cruces, New Mexico; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Private family graveside services will be at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kevin Myers officiating. Burial is under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
