Thomas H. "Buddy" McMurry

Thomas H. "Buddy" "Papa" McMurry, age 85, of Genoa, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. McMurry was born August 8, 1934 in Banks, Arkansas. He was a member of Legacy Baptist Church. He was a former deacon and member of First Baptist Church Genoa. He was retired from GTE Phone Company. He was a dedicated family man who loved his God and family with all his heart. Buddy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed sharing the fish he caught with family and friends. He would also supply churches with plenty of fish for their fish fries. If he was cutting firewood for the winter, Buddy would always cut enough for a neighbor or friend in short supply. He was always willing to help someone in need. He was preceded in death by his fishing Buddy, John Bowman. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Dorothy McMurry of Genoa, Arkansas; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wehlen McMurry, Wayne and Margaret McMurry, Wade and Doris McMurry all of Genoa, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Doretta and Sam Rose of Genoa, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Shane McMurry, Justin McMurry and his wife Christie, Clayton McMurry and his wife Jessica, Brandon McMurry and his wife Alana, Dusty McMurry and his wife Holly, Cory McMurry and his wife Sophia, Kyle McMurry and his wife Rachel and Lacie McMurry, Dillon Rose, Blake Rose and Clint Rose, eleven great grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives. Graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 5, 2020 at McFarland Cemetery in Banks, Arkansas with Rev. Wallace Edgar and Rev. Donnie Edward officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
