Son, Jr. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Mary (Shaver) Son; a sister, Margaret (Son) Yates; a daughter Laquita (Jim) Dees of Holiday Island, AR; a son Virgil (LaRona) of Texarkana, AR; Grandchildren Grant Son, Alexandrea (Mike) Bolch, Joshua Son, Brianna Son; Great-grandchildren Adyson, Gavin, Gabriel, Elijah, Landon, and Reina, and many friends near and far. He was Purchasing Agent/Materials Manager. He later worked at Malta School and really enjoyed his time with the children. Charles loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was a great storyteller and genuinely enjoyed people. It seemed he never really met a stranger. He 'ran the chains' at DeKalb football games for years and was so sad to give that up due to his failing health. He and his grandfather laid the sod on the original DeKalb Football field. He was an active member of the DeKalb Band Boosters. The 1956 DeKalb annual is dedicated to Charles and his grandfather who worked there for many years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
