Jackie Eugene Porter, 78, of Maud, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2020, at Christus St. Michael's Hospital, in Texarkana, Texas. Born on February 24, 1942, in Brownstown, Arkansas, Jackie was the youngest of four children of Idus and Lois Porter. When Jackie was young, he was known as a momma's boy and, at a young age, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a personal driver for Admiral Johnson in Vietnam. For most of his life, he worked for a petroleum company in the Panhandle. He then worked amongst family and friends at Beach Equipment in Arkansas for 20 years, until his retirement. His greatest memories were traveling and visiting family, and he most treasured the opportunities to help others and make them smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, Idus and Lois Porter; his sister, Shirley Rattan; and grandson, Rush Skipper. Jackie is survived by his wife, Cindy (Foster) Porter of Maud, Texas; children, Brandon Porter, Ashlea and C.J. Skipper, and Lauren and Shay Tyler; sister, Bobbie Schmidt; brother, Jerome Porter; brother-in-law, Kenny Foster; grandchildren, Devyn, Miles, Reese, Porter, Graham, Tatum and Tinley; cousins, Nick McCullough, Mike McCullough and Lauri Halley; and many other loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Jackie was a member of Maud Church of Christ. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2020, at Maud Church of Christ, with Jay Lanius officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, Jackie would want you to express your love to those you value most.
