Arthur Guy (A.G., Tappy) SANDERSMarch 24th, 2020
Arthur Guy Sanders was born on March 25, 1940 in Titus County, Mount Pleasant, Texas to parents Atlas Jewell (Thompson) and James Guy Sanders. He left this world on March 22, 2020 surrounded by family. He never cared for his given name but here are a few names he was fond of being called: After serving in the Army, Private Sanders met his beloved wife Glenda (Satterfield) in Texarkana and was married 57 years. He was known as "A.G" in the 30+ years as a Switchman with the Union Pacific railroad. A.G. and Glenda lived in Longview raising 2 daughters, Pamela (Bill Reynolds) and Paula (Chris Haney) before moving to Hallsville. He raised cattle and gardened outside of work. After retiring in 2002, they settled in Atlanta, Texas near his sister Jean (Leonard) Schales. To his family and neighbors, he was known as "Tappy". Tappy enjoyed life choosing to be happy and cheerful. He had a tendency to be mischievous and loved to be outside growing flowers, building things, helping neighbors and drawing. His pride and joy were his four granddaughters - Lauren (Micah) Valdez, Grace Reynolds, Emma Reynolds and Lillian Haney - who know him always as "PawPaw". Jesus knows him as his faithful servant. Tappy will be reunited with his brother Carl, beloved sister-in-law Pat Sanders, brother-in-law Leonard Schales, sister Myrtle Shurbert, niece June Dowty, and honorary grandson Hunter Watkins. He is survived by his wife, daughters, sons-in-love, granddaughters, brother (James), sisters (Jean Schales, Gracie Nell Smith and Margie Silva), sisters-in-laws (Barbara (Jimmy) Mewborn and Arvadell (Gary) Lynn) and numerous nieces/nephews. Special thanks to his dear friends, BJ and Norma Melton for their help and support. No services but future party will be announced. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service. Guest registry is available at www.hannerfuneralservice.com.
