RITA HOOKER

Rita Sue Hooker of De Kalb, Texas passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 70 years old. Rita was born January 22, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Bobby Ray and Iva Earlene Pogue Benedict. She was a Law Enforcement Officer and a News Reporter for the Bowie County Citizens Tribune. Rita was a De Kalb Kiwanis Club Lay Person of the Year and a member of Big Woods Community Church in De Kalb, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Linda Keeling and Sandra Miller. She is survived by her husband, Billy J. Hooker of De Kalb, Texas; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Becky and Stephen Cortez of San Antonio, Texas, Lisa and Ricky Burns of Forney, Texas, Shelley and Bobby Dillon of Mesquite, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Liz Hooker of Terrell, Texas; one brother, Roby Benedict of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Stacy Benedict of Plano, Texas; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
