Willie Garland Raulston, age 97, of New Boston, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2020. He was born August 20 1922 in Clarksville, Texas to Clarence and Nannie Bess Yarbrough Raulston. He married Mary Evelyn Kingwell on February 18, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years; one daughter, Jeanie Lynch; his son Billy Raulston; and one grandson, Glyn Lynch, II. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Raulston Miller, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Chris Raulston of Clarksville, Texas; one brother-in-law Ben Townes of Lake Jackson, Texas; and four special nieces. He served in the Navy during World War II and served in the Air Force Reserve in the 1950's and 1960's. He was a government civil service ordnance inspector at Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant until he retired in 1979. Willie was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas and the American Legion Post 488 in New Boston, Texas. Willie's friends and family have known him through the years as a consistently kind, hard working, honest man and caregiver to many of the older generation of the family and community. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery in New Boston, Texas with Rev. Ken Cox officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 488 in New Boston, Texas or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
