Rick BUNGART

Richard Ernest "Rick" Bungart, age 81, of Wake Village, Texas, died Friday, March 27, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Bungart was born April 7, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was retired from Red River Army Depot, member of the Downtown First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Rick was proud to be a veteran and had served two years in the Navy aboard the USS Sarsfield. He was a selfless and caring volunteer at the Runnin' WJ Ranch, where he stabilized and walked the horses for special needs children. He was passionate about square dancing and looked forward to the weekends when he and his wife would dance every tip and enjoy socializing with friends. Other passions included classic cars, old Westerns, the Dallas Cowboys and furry friends. He especially loved dogs and raised cocker spaniels for a period of time. However, his greatest passion in life was his family. He was an old-school thinker and verbalized that a man should take care of a woman. That's exactly how he spent his life, being the bread earner, a good husband, and loving caregiver to his wife of sixty-one years. He was a romantic at heart and gave her a lifetime of cards with heartfelt and handwritten messages. He was a loving father to his daughters, and taught them to have a positive outlook, be responsible and enjoy the simple things in life. Our hearts are breaking, but we hope we make him proud with our lives. We all look forward to being with him again. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Bungart of Wake Village, Texas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cindy Bungart of Garland, Texas and Patti and Kevin Phillips of Summerville, South Carolina. Due to the current health situation, services will be limited to a small private graveside service. For those who cannot attend, services will be broadcast live at 2:00 PM Thursday at https://www.facebook.com/texarkanafuneralhome/.
