Jerrell Ritchie

Jerrell Ritchie, age 82, of Bloomburg, Texas, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 07, 2021, in a Linden, Texas, adult care facility. Jerrell was born January 12, 1939, in Tallula, Louisiana, to James and Aratrice Ritchie. He was retired from DSI Transport and was the former Mayor of Bloomburg, Texas. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church; a United States Air Force Veteran; a 50 year member and Past Master of the Bloomburg Masonic Lodge #1007; a Shriner; and a member of Gideon's International. He loved his church, his family and his community. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Eunice Sanders, Mary Woods, Janelle Garrett; and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Ritchie of Bloomburg, Texas; son, Jerrell Ritchie and wife Angela of New Boston, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Striplin and husband Jack of Atlanta, Texas; two brothers, Jim Ritchie of British Columbia, Canada, Donnie Ritchie of Bossier City, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Ashley Poole and husband Andrew, Cody Striplin and wife Kimberly, Kyle Striplin and wife Ashtyn, Logan Striplin, Luke Striplin, J. T. Ritchie and wife Shelby, Karson Ritchie; nine great-grandchildren, Conner Griffin, Dawson Striplin, Brynlee Striplin, Alayna Chance, Zach Chance, Espyn Poole, Preston Poole, Ethan Striplin, Isaac Striplin; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Dr. David Baxley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery. Guest registry is available at www.hannerfuneralservice.com.
