Marnell "Marne" Cox entered this life on February 15, 1929 in Miller County, Arkansas to Toronto and Mary (Walls) Mudford. Marnell was the third of ten children. Marnell, affectionately known to family and friends as Mom Marne, died peacefully at her home in Riverside, California on March 25, 2021. Preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years Ben Cox, and son Michael Cox. Marnell is survived by her son Ricky Cox, her grandchildren: Michael (Ann-Marie) Cox, Benjamin Cox, Julie Cox, Derek Cox, Terri (Simon) Alcantara, Mary Cox, four siblings, Ray Mudford, Martha Wallace, Genette Norman and Wanda Adcock of Texarkana, Arkansas; fifteen great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, students, and good friends. Her life, as a mother, wife, and educator with the Alvord School District for over 40 years, is legendary. Mom Marne's radiant smile, compassionate nature, and generous heart will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Marnell won several awards as a public educator and served as executive director of Riverside Braille Club and volunteered in the Mission Inn gift shop after her retirement. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 14th at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 on Wednesday.
